Our mission is to accelerate the deployment and commercial viability of carbon capture and storage (CCS) globally. The Global CCS Institute is the world’s leading authority on carbon capture and storage (CCS) – an international climate change organisation whose mission is to accelerate the deployment of CCS as an imperative technology in tackling climate change and providing energy security. With a team of nearly 50 professionals working with and on behalf of our Members, we drive the adoption of CCS as quickly and cost effectively as possible by sharing expertise, building capacity and providing information, advocacy and advice to ensure this clean technology can play its vital role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our diverse international membership includes governments, global corporations, private companies, research bodies and non-governmental organisations; all of whom are committed to CCS as an integral part of a clean energy future. We are headquartered in Melbourne, Australia with offices in Washington DC, Brussels, Beijing, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi.

📣 That's a wrap for the Institute's 2024 Middle East and Africa Forum, held during Oman Sustainability Week - OSW in Muscat, Oman. 📢 #CCS News - US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHGs) underscore the crucial role of carbon capture and storage in the decarbonization of power generation and other industrial sectors. 📉 Carbon capture is identified as a "best system of emission reduction (BSER) for the longest-running existing coal units and most heavily utilized new gas turbines," to meet the new mandate of capturing 90% of their #CO2 emissions by 2032. 📢 In the latest news on #CCS : U.S. EPA Releases Class VI Well Permit Dashboard and Data Repository. 📈 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released a new live data dashboard showing the status of Class VI Injection Well permits submitted to the agency under its Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program. 📊 The EPA also released a new UIC Class VI data repository providing information on approved Class VI permits as well as permit applications under review. 👍 The EPA’s UIC program is designed to protect public health and prevent contamination of underground sources of drinking water.
